1980年は、SONYにとっては、Pinned Photodiodeの
受光素子を採用した、ワンチップの FT CCD カラー
ビデオカメラが開発した記念すべき年でしたが、
さらにこの年は、薄型Polysilicon電極 MOS容量型
受光素子を採用した、two chip ＩＴＬ CCDカラー
ビデオカメラをジャンボ機に搭載し、商品化した
年でもありました。
あれから40年経ちました。私も今はもう
72歳の老兵ですが、当時は32歳の若い
技術者で、夢多い年でした。
ＣＣＤの全盛期が過ぎて、今はCMOS
イメージセンサーが急速に産業構造を
変えています。
携帯電話機の市場と自動車市場に牽引され、
CMOSイメージセンサー市場は2014年から
2020年の間に年平均成長率、compound
annual growth rate が 10.6％ で成長し、
2020年には200億ドル規模になる見込みです。
大きなビジネスチャンスが出現した応用分野、
自動車と医療機器、そして監視カメラといった
ところです。
安全性を高める用途だけでなく、イメージング
を自動化する、賢い電子を期待する用途は、
広がる一方です。
